EcoSignage.org promotes viable eco-resources and green initiatives for signage. Here you find resources that fulfill third-party qualifications for sustainability & conservation in the sign industry. Serious research has been done to identify renewable materials, natural fibers, toxin-free finishes, and low-emission products. M. Nisa Khan, Ph.D. President, LED Lighting Technologies. Dr. Nisa Khan is best recognized in the compound semi industry for her pioneering work on 40 Gb/s InP modulators and switches at Bell Laboratories, which she continued on at JDSU and at her own startup Atrium Networks. Dr. Khan serves on the UL Technical Panel, UL 8750, which is developing LED safety standards in various illumination industries including signage and display. She writes for the EDS Update column in SIGNS OF THE TIMES magazine among others such as the LED-Professional Review (Austria, EU). With her recent Wall Street finance experience in managing assets at American Express, she is now an LED technologist providing education and awareness to the lighting industry and consumers about LED lighting. She contributes here to technology leadership with a unique combination of technical and financial background. 
Leonard E. Robinson is Chief Deputy Director of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control. He has over thirty (30) years experience in the Environmental Management and Safety Field. Mr. Robinson teaches and lectures environmental management and recycling at universities, colleges and community colleges. Mr. Robinson is currently the Principal of Saturday Academy at UC Riverside. In 1996, Mr. Robinson was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson to the Colorado River Board of California. In 1997 he was appointed by the US EPA to the U.S. EPA to the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council (NEJAC) serving on the Air and Water Sub-Committee and Chair of the Fish Consumption Workgroup. Mr. Robinson served on the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Environmental Justice Task Force in 1999 and the California Department of Education Environmental Education Task Force in 2000. He has established many unique and uniquely effective recycling programs, and has received federal and state recognition for recycling of firearms in a program he founded in 1995 called Project Isaiah.
Tod Swormstedt is Chief Curator and Director of the American Sign Museum, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. Swormstedt's great-grandfather was the first editor of the magazine Signs of the Times on its founding in 1906 and he himself filled that post in the family business until his museum concept was formed in 1999 to "inform and educate the general public about the history of the sign industry and its significant contribution to commerce and the American landscape."  The collection so far has over 4,000 items, about 2,100 of which have been catalogued. The museum also has about 400 books devoted to signs, techniques, and design. The crown jewels in the collection, however, are about 500 antique and contemporary signs of varying sizes: desktop small to see-from-across town,  a celebration of rich tradition, creative problem-solving and entrepreneurial spirit. The museum will move in the 1st quarter 2009 to a bigger, more accommodating facility, equipped with offices and a library. The new space is 350% larger, measuring 19,300 sq. ft.
Teresa M. Young, Founder, Miles of Hope; President/CEO, Sign Biz, Inc.; Founder, EcoSignage; and Immediate Past Chair of the International Sign Association. Teresa began her career in the sign industry in 1985 as the first woman  to open a computer-aided sign business, and in 1992 became president of Sign Biz, Inc., a full-service business development company that supports a chain of 170 independently owned sign companies worldwide, the largest chain of its type. Teresa received recognition as a Semi-Finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, sponsored by Ernst & Young LLP, USA Today, and NASDAQ, for her work at Sign Biz, Inc. She has also produced articles for management education, prepared demographic studies, conducted market research, and developed a complete education program and training center for sign industry professionals, located in Dana Point, CA.
